Sergio Castrezana is a science teacher at A.L.L’s Secondary School.

EDUCATION

Postdoctoral visiting fellow at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. Concentrations: Testing the cost and benefits of polyandry and polygamy in Insects.

Postdoctoral residency at the University of California, San Diego. Concentrations : Worldwide specialized taxonomy in Drosophilids flies (Insecta:Drosophilidae)

Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from University of Arizona. Minor in Population Genetics

M.S. in Coastal Ecology  in the Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM), Mexico. Minor in Desert Ecology and Natural Resource Management.

B.S. in Biochemistry Engineering from Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM) Mexico. Minor in Marine Biology and Marine Resource Management.

 

Sergio was born in Mexico City. He obtained his Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Arizona. He has over 20 years of experience in education. He has  been a T.A. at the Arizona State University and the University of Arizona for classes such as Marine Biology and Ichthyology. He has  taught undergraduate classes including Sonoran Desert Insect Biodiversity, Coastal Ecology, Animal Physiology, Invertebrate Zoology, and Animal Behavior, among other subjects.

As a scientists, Sergio worked as museum curator for  Ichthyologic and vertebrate collections at many places  in Mexico. Within the United States, he was the Insect specialist, curator, and manager of the Drosophila Stock Center in the University of Arizona  and the University of California, San Diego. He was a Research Assistant Level II at UCLA and a Research visitor for the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. He has published over 25 scientific papers as well as contributed to the work of many researchers around the  world. This is his second year teaching Science at the Accelerate Learning Laboratory.
